Using the cPanel Terminal
Before proceeding
Please be advised that the Terminal is an advanced feature that should only be used if you’re already familiar with the Linux command line. If you’re not sure how to use it, please avoid it.
Accessing the terminal
- Log in to cPanel.
- Click on Terminal under Advanced.
- If you have never accessed the Terminal before, you will be prompted with a warning. As long as you accept the warning, click I understand and want to proceed.
Want to use your own SSH application instead?
If you wish to use your own SSH application instead of the cPanel Terminal, you would need to enable SSH and SFTP on your cPanel service first.
This guide linked here will detail each step you would need to follow in order to be able to use an external SSH client of your choice, such as PuTTY.
